| Description: | On January 28, 2009 at approximately 9:50 am, during yesterday's snow storm, a man wearing sunglasses and a hooded sweatshirt entered the Chase Bank, 5681 Cleveland Avenue, Columbus, Ohio and after waiting in line, approached a bank teller where he handed him a note stating that he had a gun and wanted cash. Although no weapon was observed, the teller complied and gave the robber money and a dye-pack. The robber took the money and dye-pack and fled the bank. Responding Columbus Police Officers were able to track the robber's footprints through the snow directly to the Intown Suites, 2420 E. Dublin-Granville Road, where officers learned which room the robber entered, and were able to make entry and arrest the surprised robber without incident. Police found the man attempting to wash red dye-stain off his person, clothing, and money. The robber has been identified as Jay B. Thompson. |
