Description:

On Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at approximately 8:57 am, a woman wearing sunglasses with “malfeasants” on her mind entered the Chase Bank, 1245 E. Long Street, Columbus, and approached a teller where she handed him a robbery note.  Unbeknown to the woman, an off-duty Columbus Police Officer in full uniform that had just stopped into the bank to make a deposit entered and stood behind the woman while she conducted her “business.”   The teller tried to read the note which was apparently a little sloppily written, and told the would-be robber that he couldn’t read her note.  The frustrated bandit tried to bring the contents of the note to the teller’s attention, but then glanced around and saw the uniformed police officer standing behind her.   The robber grabbed the note and exited the bank.  Not realizing what had just occurred; the police officer stepped up to the teller and was advised that the woman had just tried to rob him.  The officer quickly responded and was able to capture the bandit.  The robber has been identified as Lois J. Harvey.
