On September 7th, 2018 at 3:57 pm, suspect Derek Marcelle Monford entered the Chase Bank at 1650 Lockbourne Road and gave the employee a demand note for money. Mr. Monford placed his hand in a position that made the employee believe he had a weapon. The employee complied with the demand for money and Mr. Monford exited the bank with an undetermined amount of money. Mr. Monford got into a teal colored Chevy and fled the area. Mr. Monford’s vehicle was spotted by responding officers, and Mr. Monford was arrested with the money taken from the bank in his possession. The money was recovered and returned to the bank.

The Public Eyes organization pays rewards to individuals who provide tip information leading to the identification and arrest of the person or persons responsible for committing central Ohio bank robberies. Persons wishing to submit a tip via email or telephone are not required to furnish any personal or identifying information, however if you wish to be considered for a reward through the Public Eyes organization, you will need to furnish your true name and contact info so that investigators will be able to contact you for additional information if needed as well as verify your identity. All reasonable efforts will be made by law enforcement investigators and the Public Eyes organization to keep your identity confidential. Regardless of whether you submit a tip anonymously or otherwise, if submitting a tip via email, you must complete the security box verifying the letters as shown so that the email message will be deemed authentic and pass through the server.
