| Description: | On Thursday, July 29, 2010, at approximately 1:35 pm, a man wearing a light-colored fishing hat and dark sunglasses entered the Cooper State Bank, 1669 W. Fifth Avenue, Columbus, carrying a red book bag on his back and handed a teller a note indicating that he had planted a couple of bombs outside the bank and would detonate the bombs if the teller didn’t give him money. The teller complied and gave the robber money from his drawer. The robber took the money, placed it into his red book bag, then fled the bank. The robber was described as a white male, approximately mid-20’s to 30’s of age, 6’1”, thin build, clean shaven, wearing a light-colored fishing hat, dark sunglasses, long-sleeve dark blue shirt, and tan pants. The area was checked by police but no bombs were located. The robber has been identified as Matthew C. Mielke. |
