On 10/22/2012, at approximately 2:06 p.m., a white female (later identified as Angela M. Gill) entered the First Merit Bank (located inside of a Kroger grocery store) at 1955 West Henderson Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43220. Gill told the victim teller that she had a bomb placed in the aisle behind her. Gill held up her cell phone then demanded the victim teller to give her all the money or she would set off the bomb. Gill also told the victim teller not to set off any alarms and not to give her any dye packs. Gill then opened up her purse and told the victim teller to “give it to me”. The victim teller then place the money into Gill’s purse and Gill departed on foot out of the Kroger grocery store.
Police Officers from the Upper Arlington Police Department (UAPD) arrived and apprehended Gill. The Police Officers recovered the stolen money, including the bait money from Gill’s purse.
No bombs were found inside of the bank or Kroger.
