| Description: | On Thursday, December 29, 2011, at approximately 9:49 am, a man wearing a brown hoodie and a scarf across the lower portion of his face entered the Huntington Bank, 1880 Hilliard Rome Rd., in Columbus (Hilliard mailing address), and immediately walked to the teller counter where he ordered tellers to give him money. Although no weapon was actually observed, the tellers complied and gave the robber money from their drawers which he placed into a white plastic bag he brought into the bank with him. The robber took off out of the bank and walked quickly southeast where witnesses observed the man stop, take down his hoodie, remove the scarf, and put on a dark baseball cap and keep walking. Responding Columbus police officers spotted the get-away vehicle, a red pickup truck, and followed until enough police units were in the area to effect a safe stop and arrest. The man was taken into custody without incident. Witnesses were brought to the scene where the robber was stopped and they positively identified the man as the robber. Bank robbery loot could be observed inside the get-away vehicle in plain view. |
