Description:

On Monday, May 3, 2010, at approximately 1:38 pm, a man entered the Huntington Bank, 662 N. High Street, Columbus, and showed a robbery note to a teller which stated that he was robbing the bank and wanted money.  The teller hesitated, so the man lifted his shirt, revealing a dark-colored semi-automatic pistol that was tucked at his waist.  The teller complied and gave the man money from her drawer.  The robber took the money and fled the bank northbound along High Street.  A mother and daughter who had just taken a tour of The Ohio State University and were in the Short North area shopping, happened to be walking just north of the bank, looking in windows – probably wishing they had a little extra dough to buy some clothes, when the robber jogged between them and handed each a $100 bill.  The stunned women looked at the money, then at each other, then at the “nice man,” and stated, “This isn’t real, is it?”  The robber answered as he jogged away, “I can assure you that it is!”  The man disappeared around the corner.  The women looked around for a business that they could go into to see if in fact the money was real, and they saw the Huntington Bank.  Not knowing the bank had just been robbed, they decided to go inside to have the money checked for authenticity.  The women pulled on the doors but couldn’t get inside as the doors to the bank were locked.  All of a sudden, Columbus police officers came rolling into the area, responding to the report of the bank robbery.  The women put two and two together and told police what had just happened.  The honest women, both clearly “Great Buckeyes,” handed the police officers the two crisp, $100 bills that their “Robin Hood” had just given them, and then waited around until they had provided statements to investigators and were released to go.  Witnesses described the robber as a male black, approximately 30’s-40’s of age, 5’11”, thin build, slight moustache, wearing a blue baseball cap with a white logo, sunglasses, gold earring in his left ear, long sleeve green shirt, black shorts, and black tennis shoes.   The robber has been identified as Myron J. Green.
